Son of John Easterling

Robert Covington Easterling's paternal lineage included his grandfather, Reverend Henry Easterling, (1733-1800) of NC and later of Marlboro SC, and his father, John Easterling, born about 1772 in Anson County, N.C., and of Marlboro County, S.C. after 1784. Robert’s father, John Easterling, married Nancy Ann Covington (1793-1859) in Marlboro, S.C. around 1806 and relocated to Barnwell County, S.C. shortly thereafter. John Easterling and young family are listed on the 1810 Barnwell census (page 0089.gif); John is about age 38, with 2 young boys, 2 young girls (all under age 10).

Robert C. Easterling’s mother, Nancy Ann Covington, is younger than age 25 on the 1810 census, being about age 17 with four children at home. Robert Covington Easterling would be born in 1813 in Barnwell SC; this family is again reflected on the 1820 Barnwell census (page 0013a.gif) with four boys and two girls at home.

After 1848, Robert Covington Easterling and family, including some of his siblings and probably his mother, Nancy Ann Covington Easterling, are all living in Richmond County, GA (Augusta, GA). R.C. Easterling appears regularly in the Augusta Daily Chronicle and Sentinel newspaper as a grocer on Broad Street in business with his brother, Henry H. Easterling.
