Masonic graveside services for Ray E. Lowry, 90, of Starrville, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, in Starrville Cemetery under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors.
Ray was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Starrville, to the late Joseph and Nora Weaver Lowry and passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012. He served his country during World War II in the European Theater of Operation in the United States Army Air Corps and worked for the State of Texas for 36 years. Ray lived most of his life in the Starrville community and was a member of Starrville Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of Star Lodge No. 118 in Winona and the American Legion Post No. 12 in Tyler. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1985, Lee Lowry; a son in 1990, Mike Lowry; brothers, Lance E. Lowry, Joe E. Lowry and John "Bill" Lowry.Ray is survived by his niece and nephews, Helen, Paul and Dan Lowry, all of Starrville; and many other loving relatives. Honorary pallbearers will be Lester Wood, Sam Griffith, Grady Gribes, Rodney Singleton, Todd Lowry, Keith Elam, John Weaver and the members of Star Lodge No. 118. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at the funeral home.Published in Tyler Morning Telegraph on Oct. 8, 2012
