Betty Leach passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on June 9, 2010 at the age of 77 years old. She was born on January 3, 1933 in Stillwater, OK. She was one of 9 children born to Melven and Sarah Sloan. She and her husband farmed in the Dixieland area for over 50 years.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Freda Lee, Oneta Mayabb, Margaret Sloan and Kay Sloan.

Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lawrence "Bud" Leach, her son Ron Leach and his wife Debbie; daughters Brenda Rollins and her husband Carl and Lori Peters. 4 grandchildren, Mark Rollins (Cari), Rob Rollins (Meggan), Katie Leach (Fiance Jose) and Erik Peters. 3 great-grandchildren, who could always bring a smile to her face, Taylor Rollins, Brilynn Santiago and Brody Rollins. Her siblings, Emma Bounds-Smith, Wilbur Sloan, Melba Ogletree and Ken Sloan.

Her family moved several times between OK and CA before finally settling in CA about 1947. In her teenage years, Betty would help her father cultivate cotton with mules or pump gas at his gas station on Madera Ave when gas was only 20 cents a gallon. Betty loved to RV with friends and family, sing in church with her sister Emma and friend Bonnie and was always singing around the house. She was never without a song in her heart, especially a gospel hymn. She was a wonderful cook and was famous for making her walnut pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Betty had a vivacious personality, young at heart, and was a beautiful, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.

"To be absent from the body is to be in the present with the Lord."

Thanks to St Agnes Hospice and staff of Somerford Place~Tuscany Wing.
