S. L. Davis, 74 year old Heyburn area farmer, died at the Minidoka Memorial Hospital of cancer on May 30. He was born August 18, 1889 at Cherry Creek, Idaho. He attended school in Malad and married Alice Jane Laws on May 3, 1917 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1921. He later married Virginia Peterson on September 9, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church having served in many capacities including a member of the Heyburn Ward Bishopric and as a Ward Teacher Supervisor. He is survived by his widow of Heyburn, and the following children: Mrs. Jess (LePreal) Rasmussen, Tooele, Utah; Mrs. Paul (Zella) Williams, Tooele, Utah; Mrs. Mel (Ramona) Spencer, Whittier, California; Veda Davis, Lawren Davis, Betty Davis, Richard Davis, Trudy Davis, Martha Davis, Iris Davis, Donna Davis, and Bob Davis all of Heyburn; 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Richard J. Davis; Elizabeth Cozzens Davis; R. C. Davis; and Latisha Rondot all of California and Mrs. Ernest Schettler of Salt Lake City, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Heyburn LDS Second Ward Chapel with Bishop Harold Hurst, officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery at Heyburn. Friends may call at the Payne Mortuary Tuesday afternoon and evening and until time of the services Wednesday.
