Annie Bledsoe was the daughter of William Henry Bledsoe and Sallie Ellen Arnold. She became the wife of Henry Raines; they married on January 9, 1895. Annie died from complications of childbirth. Her baby also died; the marriage of the Raines and the death of Annie and her newborn was chronicled by Haughton blacksmith, F.M. Britt in his diary:

Jan Mo20; Mrs. Henry Rains [sic] dide [sic] today. & Babe.

Mrs. Annie Raines, daughter of Mr. W. H. Bledsoe, and wife of Mr. R. H. Raines, died at Knox Point on Monday, 20th instant, aged 22 years and 25 days. She was consistent member of the Methodist church, a devoted wife, an affectionate sister, a doting daughter and an amiable and attractive lady, whose death will be most sincerely mourned in every circle in which she moved.

*Annie Bledsoe Raines and her sister Beulah Bledsoe Raines married brothers: Robert Henry Raines and William Connell Raines. Both men lost their young wives and their children, Annie and son Robert Henry Raines died January 1896; Beulah died in December 1901 and daughter Annie, her sister's namesake, died in October of 1902. It appears both women died from childbirth complications.
