Clarence S. Lutter, 91, of Laotto, passed away at 8:40 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Chandler House in Kendallville.

Mr. Lutter was born on January 9, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, a son of William F. and Freddonna (Yarian) Lutter. He spent his youth in Knox, Indiana and moved to LaOtto in 1940, and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1942. After high school he served In the U.S. Army-Air Corp during World War II. On October 19, 1946 he was married in Churubusco to Alberta Green. He was employed at B.F. Goodrich, Woodburn, and retired in 1986 after 25 years.

Mr. Lutter was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Huntertown Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Shrine, and Fort Wayne York Rite. His spouse preceded him in death on July 27, 2004.

The surviving relatives include a son, Steven K Lutter of Mishawaka; a daughter, Karen K. Sweeney of Laotto; three brothers, William F. (Della) Lutter Jr., Robert E. (Sharon) Lutter both of Fort Wayne, and Ralph (Lois) Lutter of Laotto; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; one step great great grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother James Lutter; a sister, Gwendolyn Liggett.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor James Cress, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, or one hour prior to the service. Burial with miltary rites will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Allen County. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to Heartland Hospice or LaOtto Volunteer Fire Department
