Delmer Griffin Fricks, owner and operator of Fricks Motel for several years, died Tuesday at his Chattanooga home. Mr. Fricks, a native of Fyffe, Ala., was a son of Oscar and Mattie Fricks and the brother of the late Luny Fricks. He was retired from Davenport Hosiery Mills and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Fyffe. Survivors include his wife, Sara P. Fricks; daughter, Sarah McCallie, Chattanooga; stepson, Dr. Hugh Brown, Chattanooga; Lester Fricks, Fyffe; sister, Lillie Foffus, Fort Payne, Ala., grandson, A.R. Schwab Jr., Chattanooga; seven stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, West, with Minister Waymon Summers officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Schwab Jr., David Schwab, Hugh E. Brown, Ralph Casey, George Bell and Richard Russell. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 9 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home East. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Home/ Chambliss Shelter or to the American Lung Association.
