Mr. Burton was born in Buffalo, Wyoming to Fran and Candice Burton.
He joined the Army in 1950, served in the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1954.
Mr. Burton and Dolores Knight wwere married Feb. 27, 1954. They moved to Klamath Falls in 1956 with their daughter Linda. Daughters Debbie and Carol were born in Klamath Falls. Mr. Burton worked for Klamath Aircraft and then for Fletcher Co. for 23 years. At the time of his death, he was working in civil engineering at Kingsley Field.
He served in the Naval Reserve and was involved in Civil Air Patrol for many years.
Mr. Burton loved flying. As a child he built model airplanes and cointinued the hobby in his adult life. He got his pilot's license in 1968 and helped start the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 411. He finished his first homebuilt aircraft in 1974.
Mr. Burton won many awards for his workmanship. He deisgned and built his own plane, flying it in 1985. He started Mirage Aircraft, Inc., in 1980 and was still operating the business at the time of his death. He was also a member of the Quiet Birdman from the Medford Hangar.
