Adin was the son of Augustin and Martha (Kiple) Biles of Southampton Township, Bucks County, PA. He never married. Prior to the Civil War, Adin worked as a farmer in Southampton Township, Bucks County, PA. On June 6, 1861 he enlisted into Company I of the 71st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was killed at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863 and finally buried at William Penn Cemetery on July 20 of that year.
