"George W. Boner Dies At Turlock"

Turlock May 9 - George W. Boner 79 died this morning at his home on Colorado Avenue after a long illness. He was a native of Indiana moving to Washington and Oregon where he was engaged in stock raising for many years. He moved to this district eighteen years ago.

Besides the widow Mrs. Eliza Boner he leaves the following children, Russel Los Angeles, Wayne and Merrill of Turlock, Will of Stockton, Mrs. C.W. Amey, W.D. Boner, Mrs. J.B. Gregory and Clarence Boner of Oregon.

The funeral will be conducted at the Methodist Church Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the Turlock cemetery under the direction of J.W. Guy.

George W. Boner, a prominent land owner and stockman in this section 20 years ago, died at his home in Turlock, Cal., May 9, 1929, at the age of 79 years. W.E. Boner, his son, was called to California by his serious illness two weeks ago and was with him when he passed away.

Mr. Boner was born at Vernon, Ind., in the fall of 1849 and when a young man moved to Kansas. He was married there in 1874 to Emma Brewer and seven children were born to this union as follows: Mrs. C.W. Amey, Enterprise; W.E. Boner, Joseph; Kathie Boner, deceased, Mrs. Leona Irwin, deceased; Will Boner, Turlock, Cal.; Clarence Boner, Portland; Mrs. Margaret Gregory, Wallowa. Mr. Boner later married Lydia Amey in Joseph in 1894 and to this union were born Wayne Boner, Turlock, Cal.; Russell Boner, Los Angeles; Merrill Boner, Oakland, Cal. Mr. Boner is survived by his widow, the above-named children and by a brother, John Boner, Joseph.

The Boner family moved to Washington in 1877 and from there went to the Chesnimus district in this county. Mr. Boner acquired considerable land in the Hurricane creek district and lived there until 1909 when he went to Turlock, Cal, where he made his home until the time of his death.
