WILLIAM J. SPIER
Well Known Morehouse Parish Citizen Dies at His Home in Bastrop Wednesday
Following an illness covering a period of more than a year, Mr. William J. Spier died at his home, 502 South Washington Street, Bastrop, at 1:30 pm Wednesday afternoon, being 65 years, 7 months and 23 days old at the time of his death. During his recent illness, Mr. Spier was taken to a Monroe sanitarium, where he underwent an operation and everything was done to relieve his suffering and to restore him to his former health, but in vain.

Mr. Spier was a native of Union Parish but removed to this parish when a young man, and was united in marriage to Miss Sallie Johnson, who died in 1923. Settling in Ward Two after his marriage, deceased followed the pursuit of farming and reared a large family. Several years ago, he removed to Bastrop where he had lived. Mr. Spier was a good, honest, Christian man and was an asset to the community in which he lived. Ones of his aims in life was to rear his family upright and to educate them and to this end he was quite successful. He belonged to the Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at the Spier residence at 2:30 pm yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Alonzo Early of the Methodist Church and interment followed in Christ Church Cemetery, with F. P. Robinson, undertaker, in charge.
