"Judge Allen Dies At Age of 92

Robert Alexander Allen, known and loved as "Judge" Allen, died at his home here Feb. 10. He was born Oct. 13, 1855 at Leona. He celebrated his 92 birthday last October when the Methodist church gave a dinner in his honor, but due to bad weather he was unable to attend.

The Judge had lived in this community all his life. He and Miss Beulah Mansel were married March 8, 1889 and six children were born to them: Mrs. Ruth Allen Cannon, Mexia J. T. Allen, California; Houston Allen, Biloxi Miss.; Travis Allen who died in infancy; James Payne Allen, Hearne and Leon Allen, Andrews.

In addition to his widow and five children, he is survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren, two sisters; Mrs. Docie McLeoud Thorchmorton and Mrs. Christopher Ellison, Snyder.Funeral services were held at Hopewell cemetery with Rev. Lee R. Harris in charge.

Judge Allen was formerly justice of the peace. He was always interested in civic affairs and took a big interest in public welfare.He had a sense of humor, was an optimist and was cheerful. He was a good neighbor, husband and father.He was one of the oldest native Texans and had lived in and near Normangee all his life and had never been out of the State of Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. Haywood Watson and Mrs. Bill Wilson, Houston, Texas. Mrs. Ruth Cannon and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Allen, Mexia, Texas. Mrs. Fannie downs and son and Mrs. Gertrude Allen, Marquez, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Wood, Navasota, Texas and numerous friends from Hearne,Texas.
