Donald "Don" L. Herman died Sunday, June 6 after a lengthy illness. Don was born March 23, 1929, in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Arthur and Florence Herman. He served his country for 21 years in the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. Upon retirement from the services, he moved to Benton Harbor, MI in 1967 and made Mobile, AL his home in 1979. He pursued a career in Custodial Management which led him to owning and operating his own business Fresh Start Inc. Don was a warm and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed, spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, camping, and sharing his great sense of humor with all who crossed his path. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judith (Howard) Herman; sisters Irene Rosewall, Martha (Frances) Wilder; sister-in-law Beverly Herman; from his first wife Bernadette Herman, children and their spouses; Colleen Krugh, Pamela Totzke, Irene (Thomas) Latack, Susan (John) Burge, Monica (William) Teichman; step-children Gary (Roxy) Priebe, David (Pat) Priebe, Laurie (Abe) Wong; 18 grandchildren Adam, Stephani, Ryan, Joe, Drew, Nicole, Heather, Kyle, Mallory, Dani, Erica, Austin, Joshua, Karley, Alexis, Will, Olivia, Jeremy and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Herman and Florence Case; brothers Ernie and Arthur (Bud); sister Darlene (William) Prentice; son Donald (Donnie); brother-in-laws Charles Rosewall and William Prentice; son-in-law Edward Krugh, and 1 great-granddaughter Kaelin. Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Thursday, June 10, at 1 p.m. until time of services at 2p.m. officiated by Pastor Garry Williams. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery West on Snow Road.
