He retired from Rogers Supermarkets in 1986. He had also been self- employed as a milk delivery man in Adams County. He was an active member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church in its Men's Club.
Surviving are his wife, Elma; a daughter, Janice M. Bipes of Lawrenceburg; sons, James A. of Coldwater, Mich., and Roger L. of Muncie; sisters, Margaret Fuelling, Alma Doctor, Velma Houser and Norma Wyckoff, all of Fort Wayne; a brother, Walter of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Ave.. Calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. tomorrow at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery Garden.
