Mrs. Lou Alice Read Milling

Funeral services for Mrs. Lou Alice Read Milling, 89, of Leakesville were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 from McClain-Hays Funeral Home chapel in Philadelphia with Rev. C.O. Germany officiating. Interment followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

Mrs. Milling, a native of Jones County, spent most of her life in Green County. She was a resident of Green County Convalescent Home in Leakesville at her death.

She is survived by four daughters - Mrs. Alice Ruth Seals of Jackson, Mrs. Elizabeth Virginia Slafka of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Eleanor Tanner of Leakesville, and Mrs. Margaret Ann Myers of Tampa. Florida; two sons, C.B. “Buster” Read of Gretna, Louisiana, and formerly of Lexington and Joe Henry Read of Port Richie, Florida; two sisters - Mrs. I.C. Windham of Mobile, Alabama, and Mrs. E.B. Ward of Lucedale; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two stepdaughters - Mrs. Myrtice Mitchell and Mrs. Nadean Slaughter, both of Philadelphia; four stepsons - Irving Milling of Philadelphia, Erna Milling of Mobile, Alabama, Jack Milling of Jackson, and Doyle Milling of pearl; seventeen step-grandchildren and twenty-seven step-great- grandchildren.
