Lucius Green was a son of John Ruffin Green (23 March 1832-25 July 1869), a Confederate soldier, and founder of the Bull Durham Tobacco Company, and his wife Mary Frances Chandler (5 Oct. 1833-1 Oct. 1905).
Lucius married Lelia Ruth Henley (1858-1946) in 1878. He appears in the 1887 Durham City directory as a tobacconist and dealer in real estate, residence West Main Street. He appears in a court record in 1895, and Lelia is mentioned in another one as the administratrix of his estate in 1896.
The children I have for Lucius and Lelia so far are: Daisy Green (c. 1878/9-after 1897), Lucius Green, Jr. (1881-1882), Infant daughter (born & died Sept. 1882), Eleanor Green (April 1885-after 1910), Ruth Green (16 April 1886-24 Jan. 1964, Mrs. William J. O'Brien), Mary R. Green (31 Jan. 1890-7 Aug. 1929, Mrs. Yow) and Florence Green (Jan. 1891-after 1910).
