He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harrison, Carl and Floyd Shearer; six sisters, Loucella Hornsby, Edith Massey, Anna Boyd, Catherine Tarkington, Essie Shearer, and Bonnie Shearer.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Davis Shearer; one son, Jimmy (Mary) Shearer; one daughter, Doris Jean King of Stanford; four brothers, Donnie Ray (Jean) Shearer, Glenmore (Willetta) Shearer, and Douglas (Judy) Shearer all of Nicholasville, and Harvey (Virginia) Shearer of Arizona; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were Sept. 8 at the Spurlin Funeral Home in Lancaster with Rev. Bryce McCulley officiating. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
