SISTER DIES IN OREGON

Mrs. Gullik G. Bidne recently received information that her sister, Mrs. Olivia Bentson, had died at her home in Silverton, Oregon on the 6th of February.

She was born on the 9th of October, 1853, in Brandvold, Solon, Norway.

In 1870 the father came to the United States and lived around Decorah, IA. The next spring the mother and children came and they lived there until 1876 when they came to Minnehaha County, Dakota Territory, where the parents took a homestead in section 2 in Edison Township.

Olivia was married in Decorah in the spring of 1875 to Bernt Bentson and they lived in Edison Township for five years.

They then moved to Sioux Falls, where he was occupied as a bricklayer for several years. Later they moved to Dell Rapids, where he followed the same occupation. In the fall of 1894, they moved to Garretson where he operated a general merchandise store.

In 1900 they went to Silverton, Oregon and where he operated a general merchandise store for several years. He died in Silverton in 1912.

They had ten children; Roderick, Gilbert, John, Sam, Albert, Oscar, Clara, Otto, Henry, and Charles.

Mrs. Bentson's brothers and sisters were Karen (deceased); Emma; Mrs. Ben Johnson (deceased); Mrs. Nels Sognstad (deceased); Gunerius (deceased); Edward and Carl Erickson, who all have lived in Garretson and Sherman communities; Gustava; and Mrs. Gulick G. Biane of Baltic.
