D.W. ALlen, 78, of Lafayette died at 7:05 am Friday in Home Hospital at Lafayette. he had been in ill health for two years,
A resident of Lafayette for 45 years, he formerly resided at Crawfordsville. He was employed by National Homes as a driver for 27 yearsm retiring in 1975. His memberships included Elston Presbyterian Church, Teamsters Local 543 and Moose Lodge 1529 of Lafayette.
He was born May 12, 1913, at Veedersburg to Ethan and Ida Wendall Allen. On Aug, 6, 1949, he married Delsia Marie Hamilton at Crawfordsville. She died Nov. 11, 1986.
Survivors include four sons, Donald W. of West Lafayette, Dean W. of Lafayette, the Rev. Warren of Muston, Ind., and Robert of Findlay, Ohio; two daughters, Denetta M. of Lafayette and Janet of St. Louis, Mo.; and several grandchildren.
Services are set for 1 pm Monday in Hippensteel Chapel with the Rev. Mark Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens at West Lafayette. Friends may call 5-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
