He was employed by Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon for 32 years retiring in 1983.
Mr. Swihart was an active and faithful member of the Batemantown United Methodist Church and was a member of Thrall Masonic Lodge #170 in Fredericktown.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years Donna (Morrison) Swihart, his daughter Lennore (James) Wilson of Fredericktown; his son Leroy (Shirley) Swihart of Fredericktown; his
son-in-law Robert Hulse of Fredericktown; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and his sister Joanne Strong of Fredericktown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Karen Hulse and a brother Donald Swihart.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where Thrall Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services at 8:15 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
