Raymond C. Swihart, age 83, of Waterford Road, Fredericktown, died Thursday March 20, 2003 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon following an extended illness. Mr. Swihart was born October, 2, 1919 in Middlebury Township, Knox County to Melvin and Lydia (Baile) Swihart and had spent his lifetime in Middlebury Township. He was a 1937 graduate of Fredericktown High School and served with the U S Army during World War Two in Belgium and Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was employed by Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon for 32 years retiring in 1983.

Mr. Swihart was an active and faithful member of the Batemantown United Methodist Church and was a member of Thrall Masonic Lodge #170 in Fredericktown.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years Donna (Morrison) Swihart, his daughter Lennore (James) Wilson of Fredericktown; his son Leroy (Shirley) Swihart of Fredericktown; his

son-in-law Robert Hulse of Fredericktown; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and his sister Joanne Strong of Fredericktown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Karen Hulse and a brother Donald Swihart.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where Thrall Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services at 8:15 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Batemantown United Methodist Church in care of Rayma Ruhl, 88 Mill Street, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019.
