Katherine returned home our Father in Heaven on June 11, 2010. She resided at 12488 South Tithing Point Drive (1000 West) in Riverton, Utah at the time of her death.

When she passed, many of family members were with her. She will be missed by her family and her many friends. During Kay's life, she had many trials and adventures. One of her greatest adventures was shopping, whether at the classiest store at the mall or at the local Wal-Mart.

She loved to spent time with her family at their cabin in the mountains. She also enjoyed celebrating holidays, birthdays and other special occasions surrounded by her friends and loved ones.

Katherine was born February 25, 1928 at Dodge City, Kansas. Her family moved to Southern California in 1932 after the dearth of her mother and at the height of the Great Depression. At the young age of fourteen, she set out on her own.

In 1943, she met a young Navy Airman, Edwin James Barbieri, in Sacramento, California. They married and had four children: Edwin James Jr. (deceased), Katherine Gay, Lynnell Al, and Dusty Lee. Her husband, Edwin, preceded her in death in January 1961.

In 1963, she met Arnold L. Frazier of Oakley, Utah. They were married in December 1965. Together they bought a small piece of land in Bluffdale, Utah and started a farm. On January 1, 1968, they had a daughter, Arna Marie. In June 1968, Arnold was killed in a tragic car accident in Parley's Canyon. In the late 1970s, Katherine was introduced to David S. Gailey, who had been widowed when his wife, Phyllis, was killed in a car accident. Dave had six children: Michael, Craig, Scott, Lisa, Christy, and Rebecca (Becky). Together they merged the three parts of their families and moved into a home in West Valley City, Utah.

After raising all of their children, they served together on a proselyting mission in West Virginia for the LDS Church. Sadly, David preceded her in death in June 2006, leaving her a widow for the third time.

Katherine cheerfully served in many positions in the LDS wards she lived in. Kay enjoyed cooking, canning and caring for her extensive family. She loved to visit and spent time with her many friends playing games and sharing stories. She loved to pull pranks, tell jokes and laugh.

Katherine is survived by ten of the children she was mother to: Katherine G. Bull (Clint), Michael Gailey (Jane), Craig Gailey (Sharon), Scott Gailey (Kathy), Lynnell Barbieri (Tamara), Lisa Rieman (Gary), Christine Elder (Ted), Rebecca Farnsworth (Richard), Arna Beard, forty-four grandchildren, fifty-nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jenkins Soffe Funeral Chapel, 1007 West South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Parkway Ward Chapel, 1208 West 12400 South, Riverton, UT.
She will be interred in the Syracuse City Cemetery, Syracuse, Utah.
