Rebecca was the daughter of Anderson Curby Crosson and Delia Ann Frances (Massey) Crosson. She was the their only surviving child. Her brother James died at age 2. Her father was killed in the Battle of Chafin's Farm near Richmond, Virginia on September 29, 1864 during the Civil War.
