John L. Beam

July 7, 1921 - June 11, 2010

Mr. John L. Beam, 88, of Nebo, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2010, at The VA Medical Center in Asheville.

A native of Mitchell County, he was born July 7, 1921 to the late Rueben Pressley Beam and Lillian Huskins Beam.

Mr. Beam was retired from United Merchants. John was a US Army Veteran having served in the Korean War and also served in the CCC Camps. He was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and attended New Horizon Fellowship.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM in New Horizon Fellowship with Revs. Phil Murdock, Jimmy Upton and Sam Brewer officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the US Army.

Interment will be in McDowell Memorial Park.
