He was born April 15, 1954 in Indianapolis to the late Earl "Tinker" and Bonnie Pruett McKinzie. He married Colleen Cantwell on Nov. 4, 1978 in Frankfort, . She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Amanda McKinzie of Logansport and Megan McKinzie (fiancΓ©: Jeremiah McDonald) of Frankfort; a brother, Tim McKinzie (wife: Jo) of Frankfort and one sister, Marianne Douglass of Frankfort.
He retired from the Frankfort Police Department, where he was employed from 1974 until 1999.
