Funeral services were held at the Christian church on Friday afternoon for C. C. Curtis, a former resident of Albion. Rev. Roy A. Gray and Rev. P. M. Durham conducted the services, and interment was in Graceland Cemetery. The following obituary was read:

Charles Carrol Curtis was born at Curtisville in Edwards County, Ill., April 15, 1867, and passed away at Coleman, Mich., Oct. 7, 1941. He was the only son of Thomas and Susan Glick Curtis in a family of six. He received his early schooling in Curtisville, leaving there in early manhood.

He went to California where he married Martha Neal in 1898. To this union was born three children, Mrs. Curtis dying in Albion, Ill., in 1911. In 1914 he married Mrs. Laura Root of Albion, who survives him. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Grace Beyer of Chicago; two step-sons, Marcus and Henry Root of Saginaw, Mich.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Scott, Mrs. Luella Bunting, and Mrs. Nellie Grieff of Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Effie Woods of Allendale, Ill. and Mrs. John Barre of Mount Carmel, Ill.

He went to Michigan in 1924, living in Saginaw until 1931 at which time he started selling insurance for the Modern Woodmen. He lived in Mt. Pleasant for a short time, and then in Coleman until his death where he made easy friends.
