Ann was the 4th of twelve children born to Jesse and Margaret (Douglas) Austin. She married Granville Cox, son of David and Annie Cox, on January 13, 1872 in Wise County, VA.

Ann died at the young age of 30 years. She is buried in the Austin Cemetery, Pound, Wise, VA, south of the Mountain Rd. Her headstone is shared with her sister, Margaret Jane Austin.
