Mrs. Laura E. Doyle
Mrs. Laura E. Doyle, 95, 1135 College, formerly of Route 6, Topeka, died Friday, Aug. 10, at a Topeka retirement home.
Mrs. Doyle was a practical nurse for 17 years and worked at Shawnee County Hospital until she entered private nursing in the Topeka and Ottawa areas. She taught in Jefferson County schools before she was married and with her husband owned and operated a restaurant, Doyles Den, in North Topeka for five years during the 1930's. She and her husband farmed in the Topeka area for 45 years before they retired.
She was born March 26, 1889, at Ozawkie, the daughter of James and Louisa McPharland (sic) Quiett. She attended Ozawkie schools and graduated with a teaching degree.
Mrs. Doyle was a member of Rochester Church of the Brethren and active in many church and farm-related organizations.
She was married to Perry C. Doyle Dec. 22, 1906. He died Sept. 17, 1958. A daughter, Mrs. Mildred E. Jamison, died July 10, 1976, and a son, Harold William Doyle, died March 31, 1909.
Survivors include a son, Fred F. Doyle, Topeka; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Parker Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. the family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rochester Church of the Brethren, 3205 N.W. Rochester Road, Topeka, 66617.
