Doris C. Smith, 91, of Mt. Vernon died 10:45 a.m. Feb. 18, 2005, at her home. She was owner/operator of Doris' Beauty Shop in Fort Lauderdale, Fla and Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 27, 1913 in Mt. Vernon to Joseph and Ruth (Banks) Wade. She married Diamond M. Smith on Aug. 30, 1934, in Mt. Vernon; he died Aug. 11, 1997.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Mike Sheets will officiate. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery in rural Jefferson County. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Smith is survived by sons David Smith of Mt. Vernon and Danny Smith of Mt. Vernon, daughters Pat Wilson and husband Art of Mt. Vernon and Sue Steward and husband Dwight of Mt. Vernon; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law Don Warner of Chattanooga, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband; a daughter, Yvonne Warner; four grandsons; a brother and a sister.
Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist faith.
