Lillian Selma DeVall Loescher was born in Los Angeles, California on January 27, 1923. Lillian grew p in Los Angeles and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1940. After graduation, Lillian went to work at a sandwich shop across the street from Lockheed Aircraft.
At her father's suggestion, Lillian finally applied for work at Lockheed and became a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. During that time, Lillian worked on P38's and 580's aircraft. Lillian's first love was horses and she was an accomplished horsewoman. She rode with the Lockheed Rangers and was also a member of the Western Rockettes Drill Team and performed with the team in the Rose Bowl. During Lillian's first marriage, she left Lockheed Aircraft and she and her husband, Buck Sharp, followed the rodeo circuit. When their marriage ended, Lillian returned to Lockheed where she met Lawrence Loescher in 1952. They were married in March 1953, and Lillian left work at Lockheed and became a fulltime homemaker. Lillian and Lawrence made their home in Sun Valley, California until 1969, when Lawrence retired after twenty-two years with Lockheed Aircraft. They sold their home in Sun Valley and moved to Wenatchee to be closer to Lawrence's parents and to eventually own and operate an apple and soft fruit orchard for nearly twenty years. They sold the orchard when Lawrence fully retired. Both Lillian and Lawrence were very active in their church and enjoyed many years of fishing and camping together.
Lillian is remembered by her brothers and sisters as a very sweet and loving playmate, always laughing and happy and full of fun. Her friends remember her as a caring, sympathetic and considerate friend, a person who always had a kind word for everyone. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ollie; her sister, Alta Mae; and by her husband, Lawrence in 1998. She is survived by her brothers, Bud, Edward and Roger DeVall; her sister, Ruth Addington, a very special niece.
Laurel Ann; and her husband's sister, Rosalie Reece.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 14, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at Jones and Jones Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Jones and Jones Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
