Obituary of W. M. DAVIS
BROTHER DAVIS was born April 12 1836 and died March 17, 1920, being 84 years one month and 5 days old. He joined the BAPTIST CHURCH at FLAGPOND TENNESSEE and was Baptized by REV LEROY SAMS. Later he united with the FLAT CREEK CHURCH by letter. He lived a good member till the day of his death. He was twice married, 1st to SELENA DULEY. To this union were born 11 children: 6 are dead and 5 living. His 2nd marriage was to REBECCA BRITTAIN, widow of GEORGE BRITTAIN, some 30 years ago. In the death of BRO DAVIS the community has lost a good citizen , his children a kind Father, and the church a devoted Christian but we feel sure that their loss is his eternal gain. Resolved 1st that we the FLAT CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH, extend our sympathy and respects to the bereft children, and that they look /89 to Him who doeth all things well , and 2nd That they sorrow not as others that have no hope; for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus, will God bring with Him 1st Thes 4; 14 Gone home to be with Jesus! His funeral was conducted by his Pastor W. T. BRADLEY, and he was laid to rest in the FLAT CREEK CEMETARY.
