ARTHUR SCOTT DRUMWRIGHT, Norfolk, Va.

Arthur Scott Drumwright, president and general manager of A. S. Drumwright & Company, wagon builders and makers of automobile tops, seat covers, bodies and expert painters, was born in Hot Springs, Virginia, April 26th, 1884.

Mr. Drumwright's parents were James E. and Fannie O. (Shepherd) Drumwright. He attended the public and high schools of Roanoke and Norfolk, Virginia. He later took a course in vehicle body building from a New York Technical school.

Mr. Drumwright started to work with A. Wrenn & Sons in 1900 and continued with this firm for four years. He then worked for several body builders in Northern Ohio and Detroit, Michigan and returning to Norfolk became foreman of the body shop of C. E. Wright & Co. He formed his own company in 1917 and became associated with his brother, J. H. Drumwright, the latter being secretary and treasurer of the concern.

Mr. Drumwright is a member of the Maccabees and Chamber of Commerce.

He was married to Miss Edna Lewis, of Norfolk, on October 12th, 1909. They have two children: Arthur Lewis and Raymond Edward.

His residence is at 208 Marlboro avenue, Chesterfield Heights.

Arthur Scott Drumwright, Auto Body Builder, Dies

NORFOLK — Arthur Scott Drumwright, 76, of 2708 Marlboro Ave., veteran of 45 years in the automobile body building business, died Monday in a Norfolk hospital.

He was owner‑operator of A. S. Drumwright & Co. Body Builders, 1921 E. Brambleton Ave., which he had run at the same site since 1915.

Born in Hot Springs, son of James Edward and Mrs. Fannie Octavo [sic] Shepphard [sic] Drumwright, he lived in Norfolk 67 years. He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Edna Lewis Drumwright; one daughter, Mrs. Helen D. Poe of Falls Church; two sons, Arthur Lewis Drumwright of Baton Rouge, La., and Raymond Edward Drumwright of Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Drumwright Williams of Norfolk; two brothers, J. Howard Drumwright of Norfolk and Robert K. Drumwright of Fork Union; and six grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at Cox Funeral Home today at 4 p.m. by Dr. Henry W. Tiffany, pastor of Park Place Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

NORFOLK—Arthur Scott Drumwright, 76, owner and operator of the A. S. Drumwright & Co. Body Builders, 1921 Brambleton Ave., died at a Norfolk hospital Monday at 8 p.m. after a long illness.

Drumwright had been in the automobile body building business for 45 years at the same location.

He was a native of Hot Springs, and had been a resident of Norfolk for 67 years. He was a son of the late James Edward Drumwright and Mrs. Fannie Octave [sic] Shepphard [sic] Drumwright. He resided at 2708 Marlboro Ave.

He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Edna Lewis Drumwright; one daughter, Mrs. Helen D. Pee, Falls Church; two sons, Arthur Lewis Drumwright, Baton Rouge, La., and Raymond Edward Drumwright, Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Drumwright Williams, also of Norfolk; two brothers, J. Howard Drumwright, of Norfolk, and Robert K. Drumwright, of Fork Union; six grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The body was removed to the Cox Funeral Home pending completion of funeral arrangements.

Arthur S. Drumwright—Funeral services for Mr. Drumwright, who died Monday, were conducted today at 4 p.m. at the Cox Funeral Home by Dr. Henry W. Tiffany, pastor of Park Place Baptist Church. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family has said that those who desire to do so may contribute to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Drumwright.
