North - George L. Argoe, 68, died Saturday at Providence Hospital in Columbia after a brief illness. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Monday at Riverside Cemetery in North, with the Rev. James R. Watterson and Rev. Jimmy Johnston officiating. Mr. Argoe was born in North, a son of the late Paul and Annie Pou Argoe. He was a lifelong resident of North and was president of Paul Argoe Screens and the Argoe Lumber Corporation. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of North, Masonic Lodge 119 and was a former deacon of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Miriam Ulmer Argoe of North; two sons, G. Lewis Argoe Jr. and Paul Eugene Argoe, both of North; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred A. Brunson and Mrs. Mattie A. Robinson, both of North; a brother, A. L. Argoe of North; and two grandsons.
