George Lafayette Washington was the son of Richard Scott Blackburn Washington (1856-1922) and Nannie Sturgeon (1859-1947). He married Katherine Parke Ames on July 17, 1913 in Winchester, Virginia and they had two daughters Helen and Marie. His paternal grandparents were each descended from a brother of President George Washington.
