The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity AME Zion Church. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service.
Lucille attended public school in Mount Gilead where she was born and grew up. She later attended A&T University where she met and married Charles T. Byrd Sr., her husband of 56 years. From this union, three children were born, Charles Jr., Cynthia (deceased in 1995) and Michael.
Lucille dedicated her life to her husband and children, traveling with her husband during his military career and raising the children. She will be remembered as one who lived a rich life giving service to others. She brought much love, wisdom and compassion to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Charles Jr. (Cheryl) and Michael; sister and brother-in-law Nellie and Maurice Pharr of Martinsville, Va.; son-in-law Leonard Conley; grandchildren, Kimberly C. Walls (Steven) of Raleigh, Scott Conley (Zahra) of Greensboro, Erin Byrd, Micah Byrd, both of Greensboro; three great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Woodard Funeral Home.
