Services for M.D. Smith, former Graham business man, were held at the First Methodist Church. Mr. Smith died after a long illness.

Several years ago, he moved to Graham to manage the Capitol Hotel. Before that time, he was manager of the Eliasville and South Bend Telephone exchanges. Ill health caused Mr. Smith to dispose of his interests in Young County several months ago.

Everyone remembers that Mr. Smith was active in civic and cultural activities in Young County. He was a well known singer and participated in many musical programs.

Mr. Smith was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion.

Survived by his wife; two daughters - Prudence Florence and Betty Jean; three sisters - Mrs. Gertrude Winn, Mrs. Jessie Pursell, Mrs. Basil Striker; three brothers - A.R. Smith, S.G. Smith and S.N. Smith.
