Joseph Stephen Estavanko was born to Joseph and Mary (Majda) Estavanko on December 24, 1903.

He lived with his grandparents after his fathers sudden death rather than with his mother and step-father, who lived across the road.

He married Lucy Cappie Chambers and together they were the parents of two children. After her death in 1944 he remarried briefly and divorced.

"Big Joe" as he was called within the family, remarried again to Minnie Blanch Wood and they were the parents of 3 children.

Joseph Estavanko died in June of 1980 after being stricken suddenly at his home. A coughing spell caused a bleed in his esophagus and he bled to death.
