"Jane married Jacob Pope, whose father was an attorney in northern Minnesota. Jake and his mother moved to Duluth after the father died. Jake had a Pontiac convertible and a bottle of booze. He met Jane in Duluth and they were attracted to each other. Her mother took her and her sisters to California to break up the relationship, but he followed Jane to California, where they got married in the 1940s during the war.
