HAROLD GILBERT TURNER

TERRE HAUTE - Harold Gilbert Turner, 87, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 7 p.m. in his residence. He retired after 43 years with IMC/Commercial Solvents. Harold was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Vigo County to William Wesley Turner and Carrie B. (Bailey) Turner.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita Halberstadt Grover Turner; two sons, Brian Turner and his wife Gwen of Williams, Ind., and Brent Turner and his wife Britt of Lapel; two step-daughters, Lynn Bolinger and her husband Brent of Terre Haute, and Paula Willis and her husband Carey of Anchorage, Ky.; a sister-in-law: Mildred Turner; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers: Densel; Doylene, Emerson, and Delbert Turner.

He was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing, and coached baseball and refereed basketball. Harold was a 1941 graduate of Pimento High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

Funeral services are Thursday, June 10, 2020 at 11 a.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with the Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 9, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Farmersburg Westlawn Cemetery, with military honors provided by Lawton-Byrum Post 972 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
