Through his paternal grandfather's ancestry, Ernest was directly descended from four passengers who were aboard the Mayflower on her maiden voyage to America arriving in Nov 1620 (John HOWLAND, Elizabeth TILLEY and Elizabeth's parents).
Ernest's father's father was Dr. Samuel Burling DICKINSON, a qualifying ancestor for membership in the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, the John Howland Society, the Sons of the Republic of Texas, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and Texas First Families.
