James arrived in Vietnam 15 February 1967 and was assigned to A Company, 1st Battalion, 22th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division, USARV.
James died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from hostile small arms fire, during Operation Sam Houston.
Survived by his parents, Lawrence W and Evelyn E Chase Cran.
