James W. Johnson Is Dead After Stroke Of Paralysis

James W. Johnson, aged 90 years, died Sunday morning at the Fraternal Hospital, Birmingham, after having suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he did not rally.

The deceased was a former Decatur resident, coming to Decatur in 1891 from Bowling Green, Ky, and entering the services of the Louisville & Nashville railway. He remained with that company until he was pensioned ten years ago. For the past five years Mr. Johnson had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. D.M. Jones, in Birmingham.

The deceased is survived by two sons, W.R. Johnson, of Decatur, and R.F. Johnson, of Tampa, Fla. Four daughters survived, Mrs. D.M. Jones, Birmingham; Mrs. W.G. McKoin, Mrs. J.R. McCarver and Mrs. J.W. Howell, of Decatur; two sisters, Mrs. Strauss and Mrs. Sarah Anthony, of Augusta, Ga. The body arrived here Sunday afternoon and funeral services were to be held this afternoon at five o'clock at the residence of Mrs. Howell, 109 6th Avenue west, Decatur, Rev. James Allen Smith, of the Central Baptist Church, officiating. The order of Odd Fellows will have charge of the services at the grave. Interment will be made at city cemetery, Priest directing.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Sam Foster, W.L. Hatchett, A.P. Johnson, Joe Weatherly and Joe Plemons.
