LLLIE MAE FONTAINE

Lillie Scales Fontaine, 85, of 233 Panorama Drive, Oxon Hill, Md., died Sunday, April 20, 2003, in Washington, D.C.

A Henry County native, she was born on June 22, 1917, to Handy Scales and Claudia Shelton Scales, both deceased. She taught at Bassett High School prior to living in Maryland for 50 years. She was a member of Mayo Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Scott A. Fontaine of Oxon Hill; six daughters, Joan Fontaine and Lydia Jenkins, both of Washington, D.C., Reyola Minter of Stone Mountain, Ga., Juliette Fontaine of Oxon Hill, Linda Parker of Laurel, Md., and Mona Lisa Fontaine of Richmond; three sons, Scott Fontaine Jr. of Forestville, Md., Carvenous Hardy of Oxon Hill and Tonifane Fontaine of Washington, D.C.; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Cordelia Morris Wallace of Martinsville and Ada Reynolds of Ridgeway; and five brothers, John L. Scales of New York, Harry Scales of Poconos, Pa., and Berlie Odee Scales, Thomas Donnell Scales and Timothy Scales, all of Ridgeway.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Mack officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church a half hour before the service Saturday and other times at the home of a brother, Odee Scales, 3161 Horsepasture-Price Road, Ridgeway.
