Jerrie A. Klassen, 76, of Goshen, died early Sunday morning, September 6, 2009, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born on August 1, 1933, in Elkhart, to the late Howard and Gladys (Shank) Ganger. She married Dr. Otto Dyck Klassen on July 7, 1973 in Elkhart. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2009.
A lifelong area resident , Mrs. Klassen was a member of College Mennonite Church. She had worked as an administrative assistant in the mental health area.
She is survived by five daughters, Ruth (Mike Slaski) Andrews of Cassopolis, Michigan, Frieda (Ken) McRae of Dehra Dun, India, Bess (Marv) Klassen-Landis of Windsor, Vermont, Michelle (Jeff) Antioho of Marrells Inlet, South Carolina, and Suzy (Andrew Elliott) Klassen of Eugene, Oregon; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Joann (John) Rody of Elkhart; and two brothers, Ronald (Pat) Ganger of Dowagiac, Michigan, and J. Harold (Barbara) Ganger of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The body was cremated and a memorial service was on Monday, October 5, 2009, at College Mennonite Church.
