After the death of his father in 1956, Allen continued his father's business as a welder at the Titus F. Alderfer Estate in Souderton, PA for 41 years. From 1995 to 2002, he worked as a maintenance man for the former Fairhill Fabricators in Lansdale, PA. Allen delivered heavy duty truck parts for Bergey's in Colmar, PA for the last 6 years.
He enjoyed tinkering / fixing things, hunting, steam trains, camping, picnics, going to the mountains, making maple syrup and traveling to Lancaster. Allen loved spending time with his family, the cartoon Garfield and electrical work.
He was a member of Souderton Mennonite Church of Souderton, PA.
