JAMES BEERY, 91, DIES EARLY TODAY
James A. Beery, 91, of Decatur route 2, retired farmer, a former school teacher and Decatur post office employee, died at 3:30 a.m. today at the Adams county memorial hospital, where he had been a patient since November.
Mr. Beery, a native of Adams county, resided in Medora, N.D. from 1910 to 1921, serving three terms as county auditor, worked in the North Dakota state house for 19 months, and was a member of the selective service board after which he returned to Adams county.
He was born in Washington township, June 24, 1881, a son of Joseph and Mathilda Nichols-Beery. He attended Valparaiso University and later taught in the Kirkland township schools. He was first married in 1932 to Blanche Wagoner, who died Nov. 11, 1940. He was then married April 10, 1943 to Carrie McKinney, who preceded him in death March 27, 1968.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Dessie Kiefer, of Leslie, Mich.; and a brother, Roy Beery, of Ft. Wayne.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Zwick funeral home, with Rev. William C. Feller officiating. Burial will be in the Beery cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday until time of the services.
