Raleigh was sometimes called "Rolly" or "Roll". He was the son of Charnell Hightower and Elon Watts. He married Aletha Jane Thompson Dec 18, 1850 in Chickasaw Co., MS. Jane's father gave them a pair of mules and a wagon to start their life on the frontier. They had nine children. Raleigh was buried in his Confederate Army uniform. Aletha Jane is also buried at Frost Cemetery. His tombstone says he was born in 1922, but it was actually 1930 according to his Father's Bible and all other information. As he got older it seems that he and other folk said he was older than he really was! He was much loved by friends and family.
