Huldah M. Petersheim in her book: Descendants of Testen Schwartz Benner and His Two Wives Susannah Graybill Winey and Sarah Snyder Ramer - 1823-2011 noted:

In 1841, Christian and Sarah Swartz Benner moved their family of nine from Farnconia PA on a 145 mile trek west to Juniata county by Conestoga wagon driving their stock with them. Their two youngest children, Solomon and Catherine were born in Juniata County. They traveled to Juniata county with the Samuel Bergy family. In 1845, they purchased 77 acres of land 15 miles east of Thompsontown on the south slope of Shade Mountain overlooking the town of Richfield. Most of he land were woods. The family cleared the land and established a farm.
