William Morgan, 51, was killed instantly about 4:15 p.m. Friday when struck by a small tree he was falling on his property, located 15 miles from Florence on the North Fork Road.
Shortly before, he had told his wife, Gladys, that he was going fishing or was going to clear trees. A boy staying at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Francisco, said he saw the tree strike Morgan, but the child's statement was ignored. Francisco found the body about 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Morgan is survived by his wife, Gladys Ruth Brown Morgan; four daughters, one son and three brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson's Funeral Home. Burial will be Masonic Cemetery.
