Mr. Billie Ayers, 80, of Anderson, Mo., went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at his home with his loving family by his side following a short illness.

Billie began his journey on April 1, 1927, in Dimmitt, Texas, the youngest of four children born to the late James Oscar and LouUna (Turner) Ayers. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in Hawaii. Billie married Fanny Elizabeth Kennedy on April 1, 1949, in Dimmitt, Texas, and to this union two children were born. He and Elizabeth moved to Anderson, Mo., in 1963 coming from Amarillo, Texas. Billie worked in Quality Control at Fairchild in Joplin, Mo.; 17 years at Marquise Photography Studios in Enid, Okla.; several years at King Press in Joplin, Mo., retiring in 1990. He owned and operated a dairy and chicken farm from 1976 until 1993. Billie loved taking care of his many animals, especially his goats. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He cherished the time spent with his family. Billie was a faithful member of the Buffalo Creek Baptist Church in Tiff City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Fanny Elizabeth Ayers on Feb. 6, 1993; his parents; two brothers, Buell Ayers and J.O. Ayers; a sister, Willadeen Barton.

Billie is survived by his son, Michael Ayers and wife, Penny, of Fayetteville, Ark.; daughter, Melody Morris and husband, Jay, of Anderson, Mo.; five grandchildren, Courtney Seigler, Abby Jane Seigler, Kayla Morris, Sy Morris and Chloe Morris; along with a host of family and friends who will remember Billie as a dear friend and neighbor.

Funeral services for Mr. Billie Ayers will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 at the Buffalo Creek Baptist Church in Tiff City, Mo. Brother Lloyd Crawford will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson, Mo. Larry Hodson, Harvey Hodson, Todd Frencken, Jason Dill, Gene Smith and Arley Teague will honor Billie's life by serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Dallas Wilson, Leslie Smith, Joe Brisco and Jack Shaver. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 392.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo., from 2 until 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Buffalo Creek Baptist Church building fund in loving memory of Billie in care of the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home.
