A note about his name: He was originally James "Edward" Carey (as he signed on his WWI Draft Registration Card), but at some point he used James "Edwin" Carey. However, he was commonly called "Eddie."
He married Clara Louise Thompson in about 1904. They had 8 children.
He died in the 1935 Labor Day hurricane, as did many members of his family. He is buried next to, and shares a headstone with, one of his sons who also died in the hurricane.
